A while ago I came across a photograph of a Russian Soldier, in full army gear, standing in a field with a butterfly on his finger. You can see the photo by clicking here. Seeing that photograph inspired me to create an art piece of a Canadian soldier, only I chose to have a butterfly hovering by the scope of the soldiers rifle instead of resting on his finger. The placing of two opposing symbols - guns & butterflies - causes me to pause and reflect on the choices I make.
