"A jellyfish, if you watch it long enough, begins to look like a heart beating... a heart you can see right through, right into some other world where everything you ever lost has gone to hide."
~Ali Benjamin

Jellyfish have survived in earth’s oceans for over 550 million years without brains or nervous systems. They are the oldest multi-organ animal on earth. For millennia, they have beat rhythmically throughout the sea, like the ocean’s pulse.

I am an advocate for mental health. Through public speaking and my art, I candidly share my own story as I believe that creating dialogue around mental illness is essential in fostering a culture of health.

In August of 2017, a bunch of life events collided simultaneously and for the first time in seven years, I had a massive relapse in my mental health. Since November, I have been fortunate to be back in therapy, and I am continuing to work closely with an acupuncturist and my psychiatrist.

"Poseidon's Pulse" is a beautiful reminder to me that the ocean is still breathing, as am I.
