♥️👑The Queen of Hearts 👑 ♥️
Just a heads up, I will be marching in the Pride Parade 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️💕 tomorrow with my good friend Nathaniel (whom I call my brother from another mother) and his workplace, the Aboriginal Coalition to End Homelessness. I march in solidarity for all my friends, family, and loved ones within the LGBTQ2+ community. I will be dressed as The Queen of Hearts.
Please know that this costume has nothing to do with me supporting the monarchy. I want to use this opportunity to acknowledge the harms the monarchy has done to the Indigenous peoples and communities on the unceeded lands we now call Canada. I stand in solidarity with the Indigenous peoples and communities as well.
The Queen of Hearts is a character from Alice in Wonderland. For those of you who are new, from 2019 to 2021 I experienced a drug (marijuana) induced psychosis; an adventure I aptly named: Wonderland.
Psychosis often gets a bad rap, with the media only broadcasting the most horrific stories; however a spiritual experience is also seen as psychotic by Western Medicine. Many indigenous communities around the globe would have seen an episode like mine as an awakening to one’s intuitive gifts. I would have been offered guidance on how to make sense of what was happening. There’s a great article I read a while ago called: “Are we drugging our healers, prophets, and psychics?” There’s also a powerful documentary called “Crazywise”.
My Queen of Hearts costume is super fun to wear so I’m sure it’ll be a wonderful day! 🌈💕If it’s any consolation, she is an evil Queen. 😉
I will be around MacDonald Park afterwards, so if you see me, please say hello! ☀️💕 Oh, and if you take any photos of me, please send them my way!
