Transmute the Pain

Meme by @fromdarzaitoleeza

When I was younger I turned the anger and pain inward, attacking myself. I thought I was protecting others by doing so, not realizing that to harm myself harmed everyone whom loved and cared for me. As I heal, I learn I must sit with the agonizing emotions such as pain, anger, and envy. I invite the feelings in and listen to what they have to say. I learn that they are my teachers, not the cause of my suffering. I learn that it’s okay to have big emotions; that I can safely feel everything I genuinely feel without harming myself nor another. I learn to transmute all of this agony into beauty, because I’ve come to understand that the stars need the darkness to shine.
